U.S. Department of State, Travel & Visa Information

For foreign citizens traveling to the United States and American citizens traveling abroad. Do you need a visa? Visit http://travel.state.gov

If you’re a citizen of a foreign country, in most cases you’ll need a visa to enter the United States. Visa applications now require face-to-face interviews at the embassy or consulate in your country, digital fingerprints, and more involved personal data as part of the process. These are new rules and time-consuming.

AVS will provide you with a Symposium/Exhibition Invitation Letter. Send your request for the Invitation Letter immediately and include your name as it appears in your passport, your passport number, your title/position, and your reason for attending the symposium. You will need the Invitation Letter to accompany your application for a visa which you must take with you to the interview with the embassy in your country.

Visa Waiver Program

Passport requirements have changed. Any passport issued on or after October 26, 2006, by a Visa Waiver Program (VWP) country, must be an e-Passport for VWP travelers to be eligible to enter the U.S. without a visa. The most common way of visiting the U.S. without a visa is through the VWP. For more information visit: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas.html.
