Swiss Cluster specializes in developing the latest generation of thin film deposition equipment for both R&D and industrial production. Our innovative and revolutionary designs are aimed at producing new and enhanced materials by combining different techniques such as Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), as well as committed to improve research workflow, ALD process times, and film quality for small to large 3D parts.
The company started as a spin‑off from the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa) in Thun, Switzerland by a team of researchers and engineers with expertise in various thin film deposition techniques (ALD, CVD, and PVD); vacuum and plasma technologies.
Our flagship product, the SC-1 series, is the first compact and modular cluster system in the market that combines (PE)-ALD/CVD and PVD without breaking vacuum for high-throughput production of multinanolayered coatings of different materials to create unique material architectures with extraordinary properties to tailor for different applications, such as in high temperature materials, semiconductor, optics, energy generation and storage, medical devices and more.
The SCube is our small scale stand-alone ALD system for multiple 2D or 3D parts for volumes ranging from 3L to 50L.
The SC Optima is our biggest and fastest ALD chamber for production for volumes of 140 L to 1000 L. This is an ALD system with ultra fast process times with great homogeneity in the whole chamber.
