MAPseq/BARseq Core Facility CSHL provides consultations, reagents and protocols for MAPseq/BARseq technique. Services include: Sindbis virus barcode library preparation, sample processing, BARseq probe design, preliminary sequencing data processing.

MAPseq is a high-throughput method for brain mapping; leveraging next-gen sequencing to allow multiplexing of long-range projections, from thousands of cells at single-neuron resolution, from a single brain. The application of MAPseq includes quantifying the brain-wide projections of individual neurons from a given area, producing multiple projection patterns from one or more injection sites. Single-neuron tracing performed in animal model systems, including rodents and non-human primates.

BARseq is a high-throughput, multiplexed method based on RNA barcoding that helps bridge anatomic and transcriptomic approaches at cellular resolution with the potential to discover organizing principles of neural circuits. The application of BARseq includes mapping multiple measures in the same neurons: the connections, neuron activity via calcium imaging, and gene-expression data; expanding the brain map by pinpointing the location of a neuron, genetic labeling, and barcode-assisted lineage tracing.
