Neuropixels is the first fully-integrated silicon CMOS digital neural probe that combines best-in-class performance with unrivalled cost-effectiveness and reliability for next-generation in vivo neuroscience research in small animals.
Neuropixels probes were developed through an international collaboration funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI), Wellcome Trust, Gatsby Charitable Foundation and Allen Institute for Brain Science. Probes were designed, developed and fabricated at imec, Leuven Belgium in collaboration with HHMI Janelia Research Campus, Allen Institute for Brain Science, and University College London. Neuropixels probes represent a significant advance in measurement technology and will allow for the most precise understanding yet of how large networks of nerve cells coordinate to give rise to behavior and cognition.
