Southwest Research Institute® (SwRI®), founded in 1947, is a premier independent, nonprofit, applied research and development organization. SwRI’s main headquarters features two million square feet of laboratories, workshops, and offices on 1,500 acres in San Antonio, Texas. Engineers and scientists perform contract research and development for government and industrial clients worldwide. SwRI offers multidisciplinary, problem-solving services in a variety of areas in the engineering and physical sciences. As part of a long-held tradition, patent rights arising from sponsored research can be assigned to the client; SwRI generally retains the right to Institute-sponsored research.
