    The 10G era invites entire new service categories for operators, many of which require super low latency (AR/VR), enhanced data privacy (medical records, telemedicine) and bandwidth optimization that is far more granular. This three-part workshop featuring technologists with Charter, Intel and VMware. Eric Heaton kicks it off with a view on what operators need to do, at a practical level, to create an on-premise edge versus a network edge -- and given existing headends, hubs, and nodes. Next, Karthik Krishna proposes a reference architecture for real-time data plane performance monitoring for virtual machine (VM) and container workloads, specific to vCMTS/CCAP. Shlomo Ovadia closes the session with details about Charter’s work with streamed data telemetry -- including home network traffic metrics, D3.1 eMTA health metrics, and RF information -- that can be used by care agents and customers to debug field issues and optimize/manage the home network.
