Description
Faced with the technical and competitive challenges of a new era, cable operators are now exploring and executing a myriad of measures to prepare their HFC architecture for future growth. Besides deploying DAA and weighing the new DOCSIS 4.0 spec, cablecos are installing more fiber lines, splitting more fiber nodes, investing in next-gen PON, virtualizing key network functions in the cloud, automating network systems, deploying artificial intelligence (AI) and embracing the new Wi-Fi 6 spec, among other moves.
What difference will these various next-gen technologies make? What challenges must be overcome to realize their promise? How will cablecos incorporate all these technologies in their existing plant?
In this Innovation Theater session will sort through the various options and spell out their strategies for upgrading the cable architecture. The session will highlight the results of a comprehensive new study, conducted in tandem by Light Reading and SCTE, focusing on the next-gen broadband tech plans of cable operators.
TOPICS THAT WILL BE COVERED INCLUDE:
• FTTX
• Next-gen PON
• Fiber Testing
• Artificial Intelligence
• Automation
• Network Virtualization
• Wi-Fi 6
