• MAKITA INTRODUCES A TRUE GAS REPLACEMENT WITH THE NEW XGT® 14” POWER CUTTER The new XGT® 14” Power Cutter is a cordless solution with the power of a 75.6cc gas model (Sep 08, 2022)

  

  August 1, 2022, La Mirada, CA – Makita U.S.A., Inc., manufacturer of high-quality professional tools, outdoor power equipment and accessories, announces the new 80V max (40V max X2) XGT® Brushless 14" Power Cutter (model GEC01). The new GEC01 is powered by two 40V max XGT® batteries and delivers the performance comparable to a 75.6cc gas power cutter (Makita 14” Power Cutter, model EK7651H), giving users a true gas replacement for cutting concrete, masonry and metal.

  XGT®: One System of Cordless Equipment and Tools
  It's part of Makita XGT®, an expanding system of 40V and 80V max cordless equipment and tools. XGT® gives users one system, from core handheld tools like drills and impact drivers to equipment-grade products including high-capacity saws, rotary hammers, and power cutters – all powered by 40V max XGT® batteries. The new GEC01 Power Cutter is the latest addition to the expanding XGT® System, which will offer 100+ products in 2022.

  “The new XGT® Power Cutter gives users what they’ve been demanding for years: a cordless replacement for their 14-inch gas power cutter,” said Rufus Richardson, senior product manager, commercial products, Makita U.S.A., Inc. “The GEC01 has the power of a 75.6cc gas power cutter, but without the hassles of gas so there’s no pull starts, no fumes and no emissions. The goal is to give the user zero limitations, and the new XGT® Power Cutter is a cordless solution that allows users to cut through concrete and metal with ease – without the gas.”

  Kit Configurations Include New XGT® 8.0Ah Battery
  The launch of the XGT® Power Cutter coincides with the release of the new 40V max XGT® 8.0Ah battery (BL4080F). The new 8.0Ah battery is engineered for higher output power, and delivers up to two-times longer run time than the 40V max XGT® 4.0Ah battery (BL4040F). It reaches a full charge in only 76 minutes or less for increased efficiency. At the time of launch, the kit model GEC01PL will include two 40V max XGT® 8.0Ah batteries, and kit model GEC01PL4 will include four 8.0Ah batteries.

  Gas Performance and Long Run Time
  The GEC01 is powered by two 40V max XGT® batteries and an efficient brushless motor for performance comparable to a 75.6cc gas power cutter (Makita 14" 75.6 cc MM4® 4‑Stroke Engine Power Cutter, model EK7651H).

  It also packs big run-time numbers:

  • Concrete: Up to 15-feet of cutting at 3-1/2” deep on a single charge when running two 40V max XGT® 8.0Ah batteries
  • Rebar: Up to 115 cuts in #5 rebar (nominal diameter: 5/8”) on a single charge when running two 40V max XGT® 8.0Ah batteries
  • Metal Decking: Up to 63-feet of cutting when running two 40V max XGT® 8.0Ah batteries

  OK For Indoor Use
  Users also benefit with added convenience and versatility: The GEC01 requires no gas and no fuel mixing, so there are no fumes or emissions. It also means no pull starts and no engine maintenance, and with no emissions there are no limitations for indoor use.

  Power and Cutting Versatility
  The 14” wheel diameter allows for single pass cuts up to 5” deep in various masonry and metal materials, and the integrated all-aluminum wheels are ideal for floor cutting applications. Additional features include Active Feedback-Sensing Technology (AFT®), an electronic feature that turns the motor off if wheel rotation is suddenly forced to stop. And it’s equipped with an electric brake, which allows the tool to be repositioned faster for maximum productivity.

  OSHA Compliant
  Cutting concrete requires OSHA Table 1 Dust Management and the 14” Power Cutter is able to meet those requirements with an integrated water delivery system with an easily adjustable flow knob that continuously feeds water to the cutting surface. The integrated water delivery system can be easily connected to a Makita 2.6 Gallon Pressurized Water Tank (988-394-610, sold separately) to allow for a longer cutting duration.

  40V | 80V max XGT® System
  XGT® is Makita’s 40V | 80V max system of cordless equipment and tools. XGT® outpowers, outsmarts, and outlasts the rest. Through Makita’s innovative engineering, the technology within XGT® will lead to creating the equipment and tools of the future. Makita High Performance gloves combine comfort, fit, and dexterity with protection and durability features to meet the needs of the most demanding professional.

  Function-Specific Features

  Makita High Performance Gloves offer function-specific features with intended uses ranging from box handling, landscaping, and equipment operation to automotive, carpentry, construction, and more. Glove packaging clearly communicates top features as well as ANSI and ISEA standard ratings where applicable including cut level, abrasion, and impact protection so users can select the right glove for the job.

The gloves are ANSI-rated cut level A1, puncture level 2, and abrasion level 4 for added durability and protection.  They are ideal for box handling, construction, and equipment operation as well as landscaping, maintenance and repair, DIY home improvement, and more. They are touchscreen compatible for added convenience.

  Advanced FitKnit™ Cut Level 7 Nitrile Coated Dipped Gloves:  The 10-gauge FitKnit™ material gives users optimal fit and flexibility as well as increased cut protection. The Nitrile coating on palm and fingers is oil and fluid resistant, with advanced coating on the palm for improved grip.   Open Cuff Flexible Protection Utility Work Gloves:  These utility gloves combine high dexterity, fit, and flexibility with durability features for versatile performance. The gloves are ANSI-rated abrasion level 3 for added durability. They feature breathable material for comfort and an open cuff design for easy slip-on and improved fit, with touchscreen compatibility for use with a phone or tablet. They are ideal for a range of work including maintenance and repair, equipment operation, general purpose, and DIY home improvement. 

  100% Genuine Leather Driver Gloves:  Durahide Leather™ Technology combines 100% genuine leather with oil and fluid resistance, breathability, and no break-in time for comfort and versatility. The gloves are ANSI-rated abrasion level 3 for added durability, with an open cuff design for easy slip-on and improved fit.   Genuine Leather Palm Performance Gloves:  This versatile glove gives users premium utility and performance. For durability, they are ANSI-rated abrasion Level 3. Added features include hidden “no snag” reinforcements on the index finger and thumb fingertip for comfort and durability, a textured reinforcement panel for durability and grip, and touchscreen compatibility.
