  • High-Growth Network Infrastructure Company Follows Up Great Place to Work Certification by Being Named No. 9 Small Business in N.C.

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – June 23, 2022 – Essentia, Inc. ranks No. 9 on the recently released list of Great Employers to Work for in North Carolina 2022 — Small Company category.

The top 10 ranking, which was announced by the Best Companies Group, is based on an anonymous employee survey and an analysis of company responses regarding corporate culture, training and development, salary and benefits, and overall employee satisfaction. The last time that Essentia applied for the honor, it landed at the No. 16 position.

“Making the list of North Carolina’s great employers is a tremendous honor,” said Lindon Hayes, Founder and CEO of Essentia. “But I consider it an even bigger win to see that we’ve improved our position. That’s what truly matters — taking the employee invaluable feedback that this program provides and acting on it.”

Essentia was also Certified™ as a Great Place to Work® for the second straight year in May. In doing so, 90% of its team members said that it was a great place to work — compared to 57% of employees at a typical U.S.-based company. In 2021, 73% of the Essentia workforce responded favorably to the question.

“In addition to providing critical, candid employee input, accolades such as the Great Place to Work and Best Companies lists are a boon to recruitment at a time when so many struggle to compete for top talent,” Hayes said. “The awards catch the eye of candidates, and then when they dig deeper, they understand the commitment we’ve made to creating a best-in-class workplace culture.”

In all, 35 companies were selected for the 2022 Great Employers in North Carolina from the pool of applicants.

“These companies prioritize the needs of their employees and treat them as people not numbers…” said Jaime Raul Zepeda, executive vice president of Best Companies Group. “Our research proves this year’s winners are committed to developing a highly-engaged workforce.”

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — For the second straight year, Essentia, Inc. has been Certified™ by Great Place to Work®, the global authority on workplace culture. The prestigious award is based entirely on what current employees say about their experience working at Essentia. This year, 90% of employees said it’s a great place to work  33 points higher than the average U.S. company and 17 points higher than Essentia rated last year.

“Great Place to Work Certification™ isn’t something that comes easily – it takes ongoing dedication to the employee experience,” said Sarah Lewis-Kulin, vice president of global recognition at Great Place to Work. “It’s the only official recognition determined by employees’ real-time reports of their company culture. Earning this designation means that Essentia is one of the best companies to work for in the country.”

The honor comes just weeks after Essentia was named among The America’s Fastest Growing Companies by the Financial Times and Statista. It also comes at a pivotal time in the company’s growth. In the past year, the network infrastructure deployment company expanded from primarily working with Telecom Carriers to also supporting the Cable and Critical Infrastructure / Utility industries.

“This recognition speaks to the hard work that everyone across the company has put in to ensure that Essentia has a top-flight employee experience,” said Lindon Hayes, CEO of Essentia.

“But it’s about so much more than the recognition. As we hire up to meet demand for our tools and technology, candidates see the thriving culture we’ve built — and they want to be part of it. At a time when so many are struggling to attract and keep top talent, Great Place to Work has provided critical insights to help us stay above the fray and continue hiring the best,” he added.

According to Great Place to Work research, job seekers are 4.5 times more likely to find a great boss at a Certified great workplace. Additionally, employees at Certified workplaces are 93% more likely to look forward to coming to work, and are twice as likely to be paid fairly, earn a fair share of the company’s profits, and have a fair chance at promotion.

Essentia’s Great Place to Work survey results reveal several statements that elicited 100% affirmation across its workforce, including:

    • I can be myself around here.
    • I’m proud to tell others I work here.
    • Management trusts people to do a good job without watching over their shoulders.
    • I am able to take time off from work when I think it’s necessary.
    • Our executives fully embody the best characteristics of our company.

  • If you have a home chef who prefers cooking meals with gut and guesstimates rather than measuring cups and spoons, then you understand why a lack of standardization is a problem. And it doesn’t taste good.

If a weekend-long DIY plumbing adventure leads to discovering that you need a bespoke part from a long-shuttered manufacturer, you also know that standardization is a big deal. Because company is coming tomorrow.

And, perhaps most fittingly, if you know the feeling of importing a data set from one software platform to another, only to keep crashing the system, then you absolutely know that standardization is 100% critical. Because the report is due right now.

If you work in the industry, you’re probably nodding right now. This lack of standardization in areas runs rampant, hampering productivity and efficiency at every turn.

    Why is Standardization Missing?

Part of the reason that the square-hole-round-peg phenomenon causes so much frustration is that it often results from an earnest effort to improve or enhance a company: an acquisition, the adoption of a new technology, or some other move made for the betterment of the organization. But unless the reality of the absence of standardization is acknowledged and fixed, the celebration will be short-lived.

We know standardization is the answer to creating more harmonious integrations, but it can be tough to break the cycle. Sometimes, the perceived time or cost required to remedy these inefficiencies can be the reason. Other times, it’s simply competing processes – with champions and cheerleaders on each side – that stymie the effort to streamline operations.

    Introducing eSpeed

Essentia has a long, successful history of supporting Cable MSOs with OSP and ISP services. But over the past few years, we’ve been able to dramatically enhance our offerings thanks to our eSpeed Technology Platform. We define eSpeed as a set of software, hardware, and tools that we use to deliver our OSP and ISP services faster, more accurately, and with greater reliability than legacy methods.

We built eSpeed to solve your standardization problem – including the following benefits:

    • Managing one platform vs. numerous platforms
    • Having one location for all OSP documentation
    • The ability to connect to other internal platforms
    • Increased visibility for budgeting purposes
    • Enabling easier management of business partner relationships
    • The freedom to focus teams in other areas where there is more of a need
    • Ensuring engineering consistency
    • Reduction of errors and faster turnaround times with automations vs. manual processes

Listen, you may be ordering your next meal out. And the downstairs shower may require a professional replacement. But if you work for a Cable MSO, you do have a clear path to standardization: eSpeed.

So, are you ready to move at the speed of e? Reach out today to schedule your demo and learn more about our Cable MSO services.
